Indigenous Early Childhood Educator

Embark on a rewarding journey in Early Childhood Education through our collaborative program. The Sqwá Adult Education Centre is excited to offer the Education Assistant (EA) Certificate program, giving students the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education close to home. Through this program, students will work together as a cohort, completing their online coursework while attending in person at the Sqwá Adult Education Centre. The program prepares students to support diverse learners in school settings, covering essential skills like understanding exceptionalities, fostering inclusive learning environments, and implementing effective classroom strategies. Graduates will be well-prepared for meaningful careers as Education Assistants, making a positive impact in their communities.

Sqwá First Nation Adult Education Centre is excited to be working alongside Discovery College to bring The Health Care Assistant (HCA) program at Sqwá Adult Education Centre this fall. The program is a 9.5-month, in-person course that provides hands-on training to prepare students for a rewarding career in health care. With a focus on real-world experience, students learn essential skills through classroom instruction and practical placements in residential care facilities. Graduates enter a high-demand field with various funding options available, including WorkBC and Student Aid BC. Qualifying Indigenous applicants may be eligible for free tuition and additional financial support, making this an accessible pathway to a meaningful career.

The Residential Construction Foundation Program with Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) provides students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in the construction trades. Halq'eméylem Language Course

The Halq’eméylem Language Certificate and Diploma program at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), offered in partnership with Sqwá Adult Education Centre, provides foundational instruction in the language of the Stó:lō People. Open to all learners, this program focuses on building conversational fluency while deepening cultural understanding through community-based learning.
